FOUNDATION ANNOUNCEMENT LETTER

20 november 2003

Dear Sir/Madam,

We would like to inform you of the activities of Hans Valstar-Verbeek during her life for the people of Sri Lanka.

Who was Hans Valstar-Verbeek?

After several visits to Sri Lanka where she was specifically concerned by the living conditions of the children, she decided to study anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. Her thesis was written amongst the children of the ghettos of Colombo. The topic was the consequences of the migration of Sri Lankan parents to the Middle East and received support from a school-district physician, Mrs. Geetha De Silva.

In February 2003 we visited, accompanied by a number of experts, a dozen projects for which she had taken the initiative or participated in with different organisations. We became very impressed by everything she did, specifically for the youth of Sri Lanka and concluded that this should continue. Whilst we lack the unbridled commitment of Hans Valstar-Verbeek, we do want to provide facilities to the care workers in Sri Lanka to allow them to continue.

In August 2003 we started a foundation with the following objective: ‘to improve the quality of life en support underprivileged youth at school in mainly in Sri Lanka as well as anything in connection with this’. We are pleased to announce that Notary Bernard Jaspers has agreed to be on the board of the foundation. We have also connected with aid organisations in the Netherlands as well as individuals Hans Valstar-Verbeek worked with.

Because we believe that the youth are the future, we focus our support mainly on underprivileged youth. When poor children receive a meal at school, they will attend school and be more motivated to study. Furthermore we want to support children in further education or vocational training, to help them learn a trade to enable them to be self-supporting. We have adopted 2 projects with this purpose, which we will support and track.

By now you have probably guessed that the intention of this letter is to attract your interest in this our initiative. We would much appreciate your financial contribution to the Hans Valstar-Verbeek foundation.

Annually you can expect a report from us on the results accomplished as well as an account of income and expenditure. 100% of your contribution will go the projects as stated above. We thank you for your contribution in advance.

With kind regards,

Jan Verbeek Chairman
